The Museum has many exhibits depicting the slate quarrying industry and social life in the slate islands of Argyll from the 18-20th century. Slates quarried here were once shipped all over the world. See Models made in 1998 by Jean Baker Adams MBE, Slate Quarrying and Geology, Shipping and Farming displays. Military details of the 1st Argyll and Bute Artillery Volunteers formed in 1861. WW1 display of local men who fought and where they lost their lives. Medical display of 19th century medical instruments. A Local Archives Collection holds genealogical records available for research. Plus many other exhibits. Open all year 10:30 to 4:30 admission free
